about

Someone once said that "most people live and die with their music still unplayed. They never dare to try." I suppose this is me trying.

"Deliverance" is my second full-length album. I started recording for this album in January, with some new equipment that I didn't have for the last album such as an MPK49 midi keyboard and Logic 9 Studios (upgrading from Garageband). The entire album was recording and mixed in my dorm room, using everything from guitars to keyboards to a fish-food-shaker (featured in Singin' Hallelujah). I was lucky to once again collaborate with fellow musicians like Jon Mack (How Sweet the Sound) and Peter Flores (I Felt Free), who are both very talented and fun to work with.

The collection of songs that make up Deliverance tell a story of how we all need deliverance from the things of this life. We are living in a time where it seems everything is either getting twisted and corrupted, and the devil has even more influence and traps in our culture than ever before. It feels like our planet is going downhill fast, and we need deliverance more than ever now, and the only one who can lift us above these storms is our Savior. This album is my rebellion against the Devil's tricks, and it is my offering of any talent I may have for the Glory of God and His service.

After all the scribbling in notebooks, recording guitar tracks, sneaking in recording sessions during lunch hour, upsetting neighbors in the dorm with guitar amps, editing audio in the wee hours of the morning, designing album artwork, the writer's block and inspiration, and the complete and wholesome satisfaction of finishing another piece of my dream, Deliverance is here.

p.s. The song "Death has not Won" was written as a poem after the death of a family friend. His name was Noel Ordelheide, and he was only just a little older than me. He was a top quality guy, and it was so sad to see someone so young have to go. It is my ode and goodbye to him, and sung in the hopes of seeing him again soon in heaven. R.I.P. Noel.
